How would you describe your design aesthetic?
If we had to label ourselves, I would say we have a warm contemporary style, but it always depends on our various projects. We typically like to stay open with our design aesthetic, taking cues from the architecture of the space and our individual clients.
Where do you find inspiration?
Whenever I step outside into nature or experience another culture, I am completely inspired. It can be something as small as a seashell on the beach, or a trip abroad. After one of my vacations, I came home really excited about creating a hip hacienda line called Casa Catorce, featuring of collection of tile, furniture and fabrics. It has a clean and modern take on classic South American color and style.
What do you think is the single most important element of interior design for the home?
Your home should be a mirror of yourself. Your personality, history, travel, family – whatever fills you with joy and peace when you look at it.
Do you have any advice for someone who is having trouble discovering their own personal style?
Start collecting images you like, either on Houzz or Pinterest. Or look in your closet! Soon you’ll start to see a commonality – in style, patterns and colors.
What is your favorite color today?
Teal Blue is always my fave, but lately I’ve been attracted blush – a sweet blend of peach and pink which makes everyone look beautiful. It’s so fresh and light, and paired with a darker shade like blue, green, charcoal or black, it can create a grounding contemporary feel.
