Spring Decorating Tips
Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer Bertrand. I won a TV show on HGTV called “Design Star,” Season Three. And I’m here to give you a little Spring tip advice.
One of the best things you can do for your house, is to get rid of one layer of things you don’t love anymore, things you don’t use anymore. Maybe it’s just not the right fit, and you’ve tried to make it work for this space, those are the things you tackle first before you ever begin a new adventure.
So, if you haven’t used it in a year, say goodbye to it. Take things down if you’ve never really loved them anyway. Pass them on to someone who will love it. Up-cycle it! Sell it! Whatever you have to do, but cleanse your home of one layer of things you don’t need anymore. And that is one of the best things you can do for your house.
Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer Bertrand. I won a TV show on HGTV called “Design Star,” but here’s what I want to tell you. I want to give you a spring tip. When in doubt, paint your front door. I have a friend, no joke, he paints his front door every six months. I like to think he’s probably known in the neighborhood, but think about it.
Your front door is the hello to your house, so what does it say about you? I often have tried different colors. I’ve had like a Tiffany blue. I’ve had a happy yellow. Right now, my front door is black because I’m trying to be a lady.
Have fun. Do something different and remember, you paint the outside, but it can also come on the inside as well. Or it could be something different on the outside. Who’s to say you can’t do something just as fabulous?
So, need a spring tip? Paint your front door. Do something fun. Who cares? It’s just paint. Happy painting!
Hi everyone. I’m Jennifer Bertrand. I won a TV show on HDTV called “Design Star” and I love me some lacquer. You’re like, “What are you talking about Jen?” My spring tip for you is this. Everyone right now is in a ball of gray and white across America, which is cool. I totally get it. Everyone loves the farmhouse looks, but when in doubt add a little splash of color. It adds a little happiness. It makes you different than everyone else and it’s an easy weekend project.
I love Amy Howard lacquer paint. There’s something in the way the spray can and how the nozzles made, that makes it really easy and everyone can be successful, but the best part about the paint is it’s gloss. I know right? I sound like a totally paint weirdo, but I’m not kidding I love it. It is the glossiest thing. Like so much so that you can see yourself in it, which may be a good or a bad thing, but it’s really fun!
So you wanna add some gloss, lacquer a piece of furniture, lacquer your front door, paint something, but it would be a really, great spring tip for you.
Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer Bertrand and I won a TV show on HGTV called “Design Star.” I have a Spring tip for you. Everything’s in bloom. It’s Spring and color’s are changing. So, why should the colors in your home stay the same? Try to challenge yourself to use a new color palette. If you can’t think of ideas, you can always go on Pinterest and type in “color palettes.” I kid you not. You’ll be surprised at how different variations of colors exist in the world.
Then, switch around your artwork. Just because something’s always been above the fireplace, doesn’t mean it has to stay there forever. Or switch out your pillows. That’s an easy one! Everyone knows that one.
But buy a cost efficient outdoor rug and use it indoors just to change things up. So, it’ll be the perfect breath of fresh air you need. Change your color palette out. And I kid you not. You’ll be happy.
Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer Bertrand. I won a TV show on HGTV called “Design Star,” season three, but I have a spring tip for you. Okay, so. Sometimes we think to have the best spring tip, we need to go buy something new. But really, it’s about falling in love with the things you already have. Husbands not included … just kidding.
It’s about rearranging furniture. I often think the best breath of fresh air could be re-imagining how your space plan is. My husband says that I do that all the time, and it just feels new and fresh, especially when I don’t have the funds to do something different in my room.
So, move something around. Who cares if you think it’s only supposed to go one direction, do something totally different and unexpected. Surprise your children; ask your children, get them on it. Make it a Family Friday Night, moving furniture around, because sometimes ideas that are the least expected turn out to be the best concept. So have fun, move that furniture. If you trip over it in the night, I apologize. Bye.
